JPCS Groundscrew demonstration

During the day, there was a demonstration of the JPCS Groundscrew.

Demo 1 -  A Renault Clio was crashed at 70kph into a 114mm HYDRO alumimium traffic signal post. (Classification 70:NE:2) The post was mounted in a 114mm retention socket installed by NAL Ltd.

As you can see from the clip, the product performed as anticipated, with no intrusion into the passenger compartment and the post falling close to the impact point.

Demo 2 -  A SAAB 900 was crashed at 70kph into a TREEFEND barrier system provided by Highway Care Ltd. A telegraph pole (masquerading as a tree) is mounted behind the TREEFEND to show how the barrier protects vehicle occupants from a collision with a tree or a telegraph pole. As you can see from the clip, the product performed very well, redirecting the car safely away from the potential hazard.

Demo 3 -  A Fiat Punto was crashed at 70kph into a traditional telegraph pole (masquerading as a tree)  to show the potential life threatening hazard trees and telegraph poles are to vehicle occupants finvolved in a collision with such objects. The damage to the vehicle was significant and the intrusion into the passenger compartment was severe. Any driver or front seat passenger would have been seriously injured as a result of this impact.

Demo 4 -  A Peugeot 205 was crashed at 70kph into one post of a two 114mm diameter Spectralyte Sign Post assembly provided by TMP (Classification 100:NE:2). The posts were supporting a lighter weight permanent GRP sign plate provided by Morelock signs. The sign was mounted at 1800mm above ground level.

The post performed as anticipated and there was no intrusion into the passenger compartment as a result of the collision. The sign plate caused no damage to the vehicle.

Demo 5 -  A Vauxhall Astra was crashed at 70kph into a HYDRO lighting column (Classification 70:NE:3). The column is of  a shear off construction mounted in a two part base plate. The lighting assembly was installed directly with steel wired armoured cables and an above ground electrical disconnection system, The Safety Isolation System (SIS Solo Pillar), provided by NAL Ltd.

The column performed as anticipated and there was no intrusion into the passenger compartment as a result of the collision. The demonstration also showed the successful disconnection of all volts on impact by the SIS Solo Pillar System.

Demo 6 -  A Citroen ZX was crashed at 70kph into a 114mm diameter HYDRO signal pole (Classification 70:NE:2). The pole supported 3 signal heads and was mounted in a retention socket provided by NAL. The assembly was installed directly with steel wired armoured cables in and out and an above ground electrical disconnection system, The Safety Isolation System (SIS Quad), provided by NAL Ltd.

The column performed as anticipated and there was no intrusion into the passenger compartment as a result of the collision. The demonstration also showed the successful disconnection of all volts on impact by the SIS Quad System.

Demo 7 -  A Nissan Sunny was crashed at 70kph into an 8m Contipole lighting column provided by Mallatite (Classification 100:NE:3). The lighting assembly was installed with an underground electrical disconnection system, The Safety Isolation System (SIS SOLO Underground), provided by NAL Ltd.

The column performed as anticipated and there was no intrusion into the passenger compartment as a result of the collision. The demonstration also showed the successful disconnection of all volts on impact by the SIS SOLO Underground System.

Demo 8 -  A Saab 900 was crashed at 48kph into a Varley & Gulliver Hi Mast 3000 (Classification 100:NE:2).

The mast performed as anticipated and there was no intrusion into the passenger compartment as a result of the collision.
