A 7.5t rigid HGV was crashed at 44mph, at an angle of 15 degrees, into a DELTA BLOC DB 100 H4a 'Very High Containment' Barrier System.
The product performed perfectly as expected, causing very little damage or intrusion to the rigid truck. It is very unlikely that any serious injury would have been sustained by the driver as a result. This was an impressive display of the containment capabilites of the DELTA BLOC DB 100 H4a 'Very High Containment' Barrier System is and DELTA BLOC UK are to be thanked for having the confidence in their product to allow us to conduct this type of demonstration and they should be congratulated on its subsequent performance.
Highway Care UKRTL 2016
Demo 2: Highway Care Ltd
A 1.5t vehicle was crashed at 32mph head on into an Armorflex RAPTOR TM 600 Crash Cushion.
The product performed perfectly as expected, causing very little damage to either the vehicle or crash cushion and no damage to the mild steel post it was protecting . It is very unlikely that any serious injury would have been sustained by the driver as a result. This was an impressive display of reducing the severity of vehicle impacts and Highway Care are to be thanked for having the confidence in their product to allow us to conduct this type of demonstration and they should be congratulated on its subsequent performance.
HYDRO UKRTL 2016
Demo 3: Hydro
A 2.5t Nissan Nivara was crashed at 60mph head on into a passively safe 15m 250mm / 76mm Cylindrical Stepped Lighting Column provided by HYDRO. The column was mounted in a RS 250mm Retention Socket supplied and installed by NAL. (No power supply).
The product performed perfectly as expected, shearing away as it is designed to do, causing very little damage or intrusion to the front of the car. It is very unlikely that any serious injury would have been sustained by the driver as a result. The remaining portion of the column was subsequently removed with ease from the NAL Retention socket, which was then available to be re-used for a replacement column. This was an impressive display of how safe the HYDRO range of columns are, and HYDRO are to be thanked for having the confidence in their product to allow us to conduct this type of demonstration and they should be congratulated on its subsequent performance.
Steel Lighting Column UKRTL 2016
Demo 4: Steel Lighting Column
A 900kg was crashed at 60mph head on into a 8m 165mm Steel Lighting Column. The column was mounted in a RS 165mm Retention Socket supplied and installed by NAL. (No power supply).
Whilst the product did not perform as expected, shearing away due to the installation depth. Nevertheless, the impact caused significant damage and intrusion to the front of the car and it is very likely that serious injury would have been sustained by the occupants as a result. The remaining portion of the column was subsequently removed with ease from the NAL Retention socket, which was then available to be re-used for a replacement column. This final demonstration was a stark reminder, if any was needed, of the contrast in performance between steel products and the 'life saving' capabilites of the passively safe products previously demonstrated.
