The first demonstration was of a 12m 100 HE 3 passively safe lighting column provided by HYDRO. The aluminium column was installed in a Retention System and fitted with a Pillar Mounted SIS SOLO Electrical Disconnection System both provided by NAL Ltd and the luminaire energised. The column was impacted by a 1500 kg Mondeo saloon car travelling at 70kph.

The second demonstration was of an 80m length of Quickchange Movable barrier (Temporary Concrete Barrier) provided by Highway Care Ltd. The barrier was impacted at a 10° angle by a 1500 kg Mondeo saloon car at 80 kph at a point approx halfway along the barrier. The barrier performed perfectly in this demonstration of a ‘real world’ impact, preventing the vehicle from colliding with any potential equipment or even workforce personnel that it is designed to protect, without causing any injury to vehicle occupants.

The second demonstration was of an 80m length of Quickchange Movable barrier (Temporary Concrete Barrier) provided by Highway Care Ltd. The Pole was again installed in a Retention System and fitted with a cabinet mounted SIS QUAD Electrical disconnection system both provided by NAL Ltd and the signal head energised. The pole was impacted by a 1500 kg Mondeo saloon car at 70kph.

The final crash demonstration of the day was of the temporary vertical concrete barrier SB 50 provided by Delta Bloc (UK) Ltd which was impacted at an 8° angle by a 900kg Suzuki Swift hatchback at 100 kph approx one third of the way along the barrier.
